Dizziness and vertigo

Dizziness can take the form of a spinning sensation (vertigo) or a general feeling of unease and instability.
Each type has different causes and treatments. For this reason, we always conduct our assessment in conjunction with an otolaryngologist to identify the contributing factors—whether they involve the inner ear, the musculoskeletal system, or both—and to provide appropriate treatment accordingly.

When can craniofacial physiotherapy help you?

Dizziness can manifest as a spinning sensation or a feeling of instability. Each type has different causes, which is why we evaluate it in collaboration with an otolaryngologist (ENT specialist).

  • Vertigo when lying down, getting up or turning over in bed.
  • A feeling of unsteadiness when walking.
  • Dizziness related to the movement or position of the neck.
  • Dizziness associated with neck pain or headache.
  • Difficulty keeping your eyes focused when moving your head.
  • Insecurity or fear of moving because of the symptoms.

Understanding the origin of the problem is the first step

To treat dizziness it is essential to know where it comes from. In the assessment we review your clinical history and medical reports, examine the vestibular system, eye movements and balance, and assess the neck.

If we detect signs that need further assessment, we refer you to the specialist before starting treatment.

  • Vestibular, oculomotor and balance tests.
  • Assessment of the neck.
  • Vestibular rehabilitation and exercises adapted to your case.

FAQ

It is advisable for your doctor to have assessed the dizziness, especially if it is recent, intense or comes with other neurological or hearing symptoms. If you already have reports or test results, bring them to the first visit.
